The Foundation has granted a donation aimed at saving and preserving the cultural heritage of the only remaining medieval library in the city of Alexandria, and opening the library to researchers. The project comprises a scientific listing of the library materials, cultural history research and building the necessary infrastructure for research. This includes the appropriate conservation and storage of library materials and converting the library into a digital, electronic format.
Once the basics are in order, Finnish researchers will have privileged access and publishing rights to this previously unknown material.
The donation sum is EUR 130,000.
