The Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation has granted a donation for the work of Academy Research Fellow Hannes Lohi and the canine genetics research group from 2008 to 2011.

After the canine genome sequence was completed, the dog has become a research model with regard to human diseases because right after man, the dog has the second largest number of hereditary diseases.

The research project is an internationally significant, new research move in Finland, and it will strengthen the diversity of the research program dealing with molecular medicine and genotype research in Finland to a wider extent.

The donation sum is EUR 190,000.
